Here is my favorite fingering for the combination C4/D4 trill (it came
originally in the Cooper/Toplansky "Bassoon Technique" and it is in my
"Bassoon Trills, Shakes and Skills". This one is a down trill but it works
gorgeously and begins with standard fingerings: Try these fingerings in the
order given 1)<LH X,00 Eb key * LT high d" key/RH X, X, 0, F key * RT Bb
key> this gives the first note = high C4;
2)<LH 0, 0, X, Eb key * LT high d" key/RH 0,0,0, * RT low E key> this gives
second note = high D4;
3) <LH X, X, X, Eb key * LT high d" key / RH X, X, X, * RT Low E key> this
gives high C4, lift LH 1, 2 and RH 1, 2, 3, for each succeeding D4 and the
trill is great! Good luck, Gerald Corey, Ottawa
