I have both Weber's and Light's books. I even have the video from
David Weber. Each has a different style and method for sure. I only
made less than 50 reeds (maybe even less) yet I did make a few
playable reeds but of course any pro player would just smash them
right away. But hey they played!!

Ruth you sound alot like me yet i'm a guy and dont have a baby! I have
a cat!! I'm sure if put more time and energy into it you can make
reeds with the help of those books and even from tips and advices from
many people.

On the other hand I think that nothing beats a good 1 or 2 hours of
one on one reed making class as i believe you need to see the reeds
being scraped in close up and you cant see that in the video nor the
books.

Another good place to read about making and adjusting reeds is Martin
Schuring's web page. http://www.public.asu.edu/~schuring/

I too have a landwell and in the process of getting the speedy sharp
from www.goodtoneguild.com to finally help me get it as sharp as
possible. Something you must have (sharp knife) to make reeds making
less trouble!!

my 2 cents
