what about the after-taste of the glycerol? A few years ago I diluted
glycerol with distilled water and immersed a reed in the solution.
Thereafter the reed had a very unpleasant taste/after-taste. I did not
notice any positive or negative changes in the reed's hydration
properties. I discarded the glycerol. I obtained the glycerol from
one of my student's, a PhD at one of Harvard's virology labs, and was
assured of its highest grade and purity. After observing my reaction
to the taste of the glycerol she didn't even want to try the stuff.
