The thread on surviving negative comments by the music critics really
brings up two other skills needed by the musician, critic, and audience:
Knowing how to write a critical review of a performance, and knowing how
to read one. I suppose there is a critics' list where they discuss
questions such as how tough to be on amateur and semi-pro groups, and
experimental work performances; How to write so that the flaws you must
mention to not overwhelm the beauty you also heard. That sort of thing.
