I believe that clarinetist Richard Stoltzman did his 10,000 hours in a
period of about 4 years.

Eddie Daniels does that in about six months! When in L. A. he often stays
with a friend of mine. I always thought that my friend played just about
constantly, but HE complained about Eddie!

I consider any time that I am truly concentrating on music or an instrument
to be practicing. If you are practicing without concentration, however, that
doesn't count towards the 10,000!

Take care,
Phil Feather
