Dear Herb,

I think the latest French system bassoons have (finally) a right thumb Bb!!!
(in addition to the third finger Bb)
And the contrebassons too!

I was in Marseille last spring and had to play contrabassoon in one piece.
The only instrument we could find was a French system contrebasson.

I was happy to find a right thumb Bb on that contrebasson.
That made my life a little simpler...
