Hi guys...

I'm not sure what a leveling bubble is ;p

I use a Yamaha tuner (TD1). The bad thing about this model is that it
doesn't emit sound pitches, nor does it have an output (or is it input?)
outlet where one can insert a 'tuning clip' (where one can clip onto a
instrument for better pick up in a crowded and noisy room).

What I like about it is it's compact size (slimmer than a cassette tape and
has a casing that makes it look like a cassette tape!), and that it can pick
up pitches comfortable till the lowest Bb on the bassoon. It seems pretty
sturdy as well (I've had it for 8 years). Despite dropping it a few times,
it's still working pretty well.

They have a newer improved version (with the sounding pitches and
input/output points), but I never decided to upgrade as I thought it looked
like a toy with the big red buttons and display ;p

Korg has a cheaper tuner (CA30 and CA40). These are quite slim too, but I'm
not comfortable with them as they are pretty fragile and 'crack open' pretty
easily. Theses have functions that can sound pitches, have input/output
points and are also cassette tape sized. The response of this tuner (in
comparison to the Yamaha) seems slower though...

I'd like to be able to find a tuner that can work with a contrabassoon into
its lower ranges though. Reviews from friends who have bought Seiko Tuners
say that these are good (in terms of response, function etc), but the price
is usually double that of the TD1 and Korg tuners.

Hope this helps...

Esther

Just out of curiosity, does this kind of metronome come with a
levelling bubble now days? Or must users of this device rely on their
ears to level it to produce even beats. Viennese waltz, anyone?
(polka?)
