Subject: [DR-L] Doublereed topics....?
[snip]
I ,for one,am glad that there is no Big brother, sister or whatever
telling me I can't advertise this or that, can't mention this or that, etc. We
are not schoolkids (or are we?)
[snip]
I have learned so much from the outgoing List and made friendships all over
the world.
[snip]
I commend the Ishies, etc for their dreaming up these Lists and organizing
these wonderful IDRS conferences, etc but cannot agree that our cyberface rug
should be taken away from us without our consent.
Amen?
The phrase used among computer literati is "What he said!".
Dr. Jeter's comment about staying on topic is moderation enough,
in my estimation, and is the way it should work: peer pressure instead
of police state.
Although I have tried to keep my mouth shut, suffice it to say
that the fact that we can attach pictures to email or make
use of the web is due to folks participating in maling lists
sponsored by the internet engineering task force, which have
similar "acceptible use policies" as the University of Colorado,
and in my half decade of participation therein, I cannot think of a
single instance of a person being expelled from a list for
dominating it, going off topic, or offhandly advertising something
in passing.
Respectfully submitted,
Keith L. Sklower
