Dear Herb,Steve and DR-L:
This discussion about cadenzas I particularly find fascinating because I've
played with many soloists in my career but the ones I remember the best are
those who performed their Mozarts, etc. with a Cadenza they had written
themselves ,which showed their personality, capabilities, outlook on life, etc.
I presume that Garfield often wrote his own Cadenza???
Never am sure if Mozart or otehr composers would have like these Cadenzas.
The cadenza i didn't like one time was written by a hot shot American
composer for a famous orchestra member(one of the big ones) and did not tell
me anything about the person who was performing the working.
Having replied the above,I am ready to write my own Cadenza for the second
mvt. of the Mozart Oboe Quartet.
And where are other commentaries?Don't be shy!
Regards,
Harold Emert
