Harold,
Participation in two summer music camps in Arizona was the cause of my son's
decision to totally quit his drug use in high school. Many asked me "why do
you let him do those things?" and my response was "tell me how to make him
stop." He simply discovered a great group of kids his age who were having a
grand time and doing it without drugs. He told me of his decision, I
approved heartily, and he continued with his exploration of the bassoon
until he went to University in Berkeley. There he lacked the time for all
the practice, reeds, etc. while earning his degree in Computer Science. He
has since learned to play and enjoy piano, guitar and singing.
This is a marvelous opportunity for kids to learn that there is life outside
the ghetto or favela. I hope it continues to gather support.
Best,
Herb
