Change is often good; but it seems to me that this change was for the
convenience of the operators rather than convenience of the members. I
run 4 mailing lists and 9 BBoards (Klarinet, Doublereed, Clair, and
Clariperu mailing lists, and The Oboe, Bassoon, Flute, Clarinet, Horn,
Doublers, Ethnic Clarinet, Fingering Forum, and Keepers) - and they all
have their place. The upkeep and maintenance of all of these is done in
my "spare time" - I have a full time job, have put 2 kids through
college with one more to go, and have a "regular life" above and beyond
all this stuff. I move over 100,000 emails a day with no great problem

Forums and email lists serve two different types of population as I've
discovered, and the overlap is a lot less than I imagined.
