Just a note to let Herb Fawcett know that the solution
Peridex that he recommended for "disinfecting" reeds,
worked like a charm! I just returned from 2 weeks at
Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan, and I had a
chance to try this out on my 14 junior high bassoon
students' reeds. It tasted like "peppermint"; the only
down side was that the kids felt like they were in a
dentist's office, after I'd scraped and worked on
their individual reeds. But it sure saved me from
myriad colds and what-nots. Thanks again, Herb, for
