I am pleased to announced that I performed the Rimsky-Korsakov Variations on
a Theme of Glinka with my concert band on May 3; it went very well. I was
asked if I would solo last spring, and as I already had the music, I went to
work on it over the summer. However, the edition with piano reduction does
not have the cadenza. Also, the oboe part from the band music has one note
missing and the articulation marks are not the same as on the oboe/piano
edition, so I changed some of them. I also went by a recording that Michael
Benthin
sent me; it was a big help in preparation. Thank you, Michael!

Of course, I performed using my MUTS (oboe support).

And I changed the ending of the cadenza to end with a chromatic run up to a
high Eb, F#, G. Much more dramatic than the original. Hope Nicolai doesn't
mind...
