Subj: [DR-L] My continuing woes with IDRS
Date: Sat, 06 May 2006 17:09:53 -0400

Hello all,

Herewith a copy of my appeal to Mr Ewell, past pres of IDRS

Herb

(Mr. Ewell, IDRS)

See you all in court,
Herb

Mr. Ewell,
I just re-read some of my mail, and I apologize for the flippancy reflected
in the above correspondence with you. It was not intended as such; merely
the message that I apparently have no other recourse to such wooden-headed
insistence on judgement not based in fact. Judge not, lest ye soon be judged
yourself. If Yoshiyuki's thin skin is shared among the IDRS hierarchy, there
soon will not be much of interest on the list for professionals, only for
obeisant dilletantes who are never rude to their smug superiors.
This sort of problem would make very interesting reading in our journal. At
least everyone would then know where he stands in the estimation of his
"elected" officers. Those who are not "professional musicians" could go on
their merry way doing something else, not bothering to merely have an
"interest" in a double reed instrument. It would cut down enormously on
mailing costs of the Journal as the slighted members dropped out. I didn't
realize that the IDRS was only for professionals/educators of the high
stature of Dr. Ishikawa. Sol told me it was for people who were interested
in double reed instruments.
While it has not always been true in the realm of music, I have found most
of my contacts in the field of higher education (been there 12 years myself,
as a student) to be open minded and fair; at least willing to accept reality
as opposed to cranky belief and distortion. You have all been a great
disappointment to me and many of my corresponding friends.
Sincerely,
Herb

Interested in the bassoon, and I even play it occasionally.
