Subj: [DR-L] IDRS list
Date: Fri, 05 May 2006 20:18:19 -0400

To all my friends on this list and the IDRS list,

I have been summarily and permanently dismissed from the IDRS list-serve as
a result of a light hearted exchange between myself and several other
long-standing members of the list.
Professor Yoshiyuki Ishikawa accused me of rudeness when I jokingly
responded to a post by Jon Dlouhy that there might be a censor around the
corner. Then Ishikawa assailed my professionalism by telling me that he was
a professional musician and I was only a dentist with an interest in the
bassoon, while making other derogatory remarks about my character. My
professional credentials, nor indeed my character, have not been questioned
since I was at Curtis and subsequently spent a season as Mr. Garfield's
assistant before going to the Houston Symphony under Stokowski and
continuing to have a satisfying professional career as a bassoonist for
years.
It is clear that Ishikawa dislikes me; I have copies of all the "rude"
correspondence. Since the President and past President of the IDRS have
chosen to uphold his bias and selective enforcement, it is my intention to
contact the University of Colorado, who actually owns the Computer that
Ishikawa claims to "own" to complain about his capricious sanction of me,
while simply suspending the other contributors for two weeks. I think the
University of Colorado supports a more democratic attitude and will not
condone such flagrant discrimination by their own professor. If this is not
satisfactory in effecting my reinstatement, I am considering legal inquiry
into the discrimination and bias by a representative of the University of
Colorado and the officers of the IDRS.
Sorry to annoy you all with what may seem to be my petty grievances, but I
am a strong believer in the democratic process and the principles of free
expression, especially since it is clear that no malice was intended on my
part. This may take some time, and I want all of my colleagues to be clearly
and honestly informed of the facts. Any who wish them may have copies of the
complete record of the claimed offences.
Be well, and stay in reality,
Herb
