The Bboards _are not_ email lists; they are totally separated. Some
people like email lists, some don't; the BBoards are for those that
don't. The Oboe BBoard has been around for quite some time (2003), as
has the Fingering Forum (1999).

The Bboards tend to get a lot more traffic than the email lists ... for
instance, the Klarinet email list has been around since 1992 and has
123,500 posts. The Clarinet BBoard started in 1999 and has 204,700
posts. If we look at doublereed vs. just the Oboe BBoard, doublereed
started on this email address in April 2004, and has had 6017 posts. The
Oboe BBoard, a single instrument, has had about half, or 3000 post,
during the same period of time - and is pretty well hidden on the site,
too :(.

Is this mailing list "broken"? Of course not, but there are other ways
to communicate, and there's an awful lot of people who prefer the
immediacy of Bboards vs. email communications.

There is amazingly little crossover between the two types of persons who
frequent the two ways of communicating.
