I didn't realize the earlier system was "broken". Did it really need
repair? As a bassoonist, I find it comforting to know that payers of other
instruments have annoyances too. Also oboe solutions sometimes lead to
bassoon solutions; things like sticky key rods, and leaky vent tubes are
common to both.
