Subj: [DR-L] BASSOON: new commission project for contrabassoon piece by Bill Douglas

Dear Colleagues:
I would like to let all of the bassoonists know of a brand new commissioning
project with composer and
bassoonist Bill Douglas. Steve Braunstein, contrabassoonist of the San
Francisco Symphony is the
initiator of this project.
Bill is going to write a 10-minute work for contrabassoon and piano, a lyric
suite, that emphasizes the
lyrical quality of the contra. He has 4 people signed as we make the first
announcement of this project.
With 22 additional commissioners, the price would be $120 per person. All
participants would have a
one-year exclusivity agreement on performances before the piece is made
available for the general
public.
