I have heard several of the players you listed. Never cared much for
Stotijn, although my friend Don Jaeger studied with him and I love to hear
him play. I suspect the various recording media in those days may have
emphasized those things I don't like at the expense of losing the rich
middle partials. Tabuteau sounded transcendentally better in person,
although good enough when recorded.
Musicality is always there!
