Michael,
That is a fabulous discovery. Can you provide a link for the outfit that is
doing these priceless recordings?
I remember my school music leader having attended a performance by one of
the Eastern orchestras on tour to San Francisco (1947?). He was scandalized
by the bassoonist using vibrato, and said what next, the clarinet? He was a
bassoonist and in fact lent me his personal instrument, a Bettoney, to learn
on until I bought a beautiful old (round tube) Czech Kohlert, quickly turned
over for the Heckel 9330 that has been my other life-mate ever since. Many
mistresses (Fox of all sorts and a couple of Schreibers, even another
ordered Heckel (10391) but never did I stray for long. I guess that
statement clears up the gender of my Heckel.
