At the Princeton Record Exchange I've been snapping up bargain cd's
($4.99 or less) of Stowkowski works- some really cleanly redone- one of
worth is a recording of his "personal orchestra" where in the 40's he
took the best musicians in the Philly-NY area and recorded some of his
transcriptions-of note is the Swan of Tuonela with Mitch Miller playing
English horn- those over 45 may remember his "sing along TV show" where
he played EH now and then. It's a Cala Artist CD CACD0522 done off
original shellac pressings.

Of note is Philadelphia Orchestra reissues featuring Stowkowski and
Toscanini- really good mastering by Dutton Labs, ie, CDAX 8009 the
Russian Specacular with Mussorgsky and Borodin,-good solo winds;
Tabeteau I assume. I noticed in some of the really early stuff (1909)
The winds DON'T use vibrato- when did Tabeteau start with them?
