From: rcramey <rcramey@-----.edu> Subj: [DR-L] new Bill Douglas commission--clar/bsn/piano...update Date: Fri, 30 Dec 2005 20:19:55 -0500
Dear Colleagues,
In September, I sent out a notice about a new commission project to have Bill
Douglas write a major new trio for clarinet/bassoon/piano. Bill has written a
significant amount of the work. If anyone who isn't already on the
commissioners list would like to get in on this project, there is still time.
Because we have 47 people signed on, the cost is now down to below $120 per
person.
Also, if anyone is a member of the various clarinet lists, please feel free to
post this.
You can read more about the specifics of the commission below. Here is an
update on the piece from Bill:
" It's coming along well. I've finished a sort of Latinish first movement
with somewhat Brazilian harmonies and a lyrical second movement, somewhat
medievalish. I'm simultaneously working now on a 12/8 jazz last movement,
another lyrical 4th movement and a fast jazz blues 3rd movement. I think I
should be finished by the end of February."
Happy New Year to everyone...
