Subj: [DR-L] Kammermusic Workshops 2006
Date: Mon, 14 Nov 2005 19:16:56 -0500

Kammermusik Workshops (a NM nonprofit corporation) is now open for
registration for its woodwind workshops in February and July 2006. These
take place in the attractive Sunrise Springs Inn and Retreat, Santa Fe, NM
and combine satisfying playing, first class tuition for adult amateurs (18 -
any), a remarkable environment, good food and wonderful company.

In February we are holding a dual masterclass on the President's Day weekend
(18-20 Feb), with internationally renowned coaches. The Harmoniemusik
workshop, in Mozart's 250th anniversary year, will focus on the Serenade in
Bb for thirteen instruments (Gran Partitta), and the Serenade in Eb. This
will be led by the internationally renowned conductor, scholar and wind
music specialist David Whitwell formerly of USC. Vacancies exist for
bassoons but there is competition for oboe places. The Trio Sonata workshop,
run in parallel, will play music of the baroque period. This will be led by
Michael Lynn, professor of baroque flute and recorder at Oberlin
Conservatory. Vacancies exist for soprano instruments including oboes, and
continuo instruments including bassoons. The workshop will conclude with an
informal private performance in Sunrise Springs. The registration deadline
is November 26 for both masterclasses.

In July (16-22) we hold the annual Woodwind chamber music workshop, with
specialist professional coaches on flute (Laura Dwyer), oboe (Claudia
Giese), clarinet (Forest Aten), horn (Chris Dwyer) and bassoon (Ron Noble).
This focuses on education and training in instruments and ensembles and
includes individual and group tuition in the instruments and in small group
ensembles. Assigned groups work on wind quintets or piano/wind sextets and a
wide range of wind chamber music is played in the informal afternoon
sessions. The week concludes with a public concert in Santa Fe. The
registration deadline is May 1, but places for the more popular instruments
fill up long beforehand!

More information, and registration, is available on the website, below. I
should be happy to answer questions of general interest through the list,
and individual questions via email.
