Thanks very much to several people who inquired about my well-being
after the recent devastating tornado here. Very fortunately, neither I
nor the University of Evansville suffered any damage. The tornado
passed about a mile from my house and about a half mile from my son's
house in the suburb of Newburgh, where most of the damage was sustained.
He was without power for about 3 days, but it has now been restored. A
few University faculty members who live in that area had damage to their
homes, but no injuries.

The photos of the area where the storm went through look very much like
those we saw of the Gulf coast after the hurricane. So far, it seems
that there were 21 or 22 fatalities and perhaps over 200 injured, some
of whom are still in hospitals.

Thanks again for the expressions of concern.
