Hi Daniel:
You are correct in that there isn't much information about Miroshnikov. =
I
had saved this little tidbit on my computer but I don't remember where I =
got
the information or if I heard someone say this when I was in =
Philadelphia.
Kent
Very little is known about Oleg Miroshnikov, the Russian who lived in =
Paris.
Gustave Dh=E9rin, a bassoon teacher in Paris at the time, came across
Miroshnikov=92s Scherzo, published it, and then it became very popular. =
It
was characterized by Sol Schoenbach, former principal bassoonist of the
Philadelphia Orchestra, as =93a little piece that everyone loves.=94 It
demonstrates the virtuosic possibilities of the modern bassoon, but it =
also
contains very lyrical moments.=20

Subject: [DR-L] Program Notes
Hi All,
I am currently doing a recital and need to write program notes for these =
two
pieces but I cannot seem to find information.
They are Miroshnikov's Scherzo and Jacob Gordon's Partita for Solo =
Bassoon.
Any help would be appreciated!!
If worse comes to worse, I will just sit down and think of musical stuff =
to
write about these two pieces!
Regards,
Daniel
