That also shows up at the end of a movement in quintet version of Le Tombeau
with ppp under it. Let me know what you find out.
Garfield was pulling my leg about it when I asked him for a solution: he
said play the G and then move to the Bb, then go back and forth real fast,
but quietly. Schoenbach must have had a solution because the arrangement was
done by Mason Jones for the Phila Quintet, and I am sure he would have
checked with Sol.
