They're really very simple and, I would think, are more to develop
strength and interdependence of the fingers, especially 4th and 5th.
Just put the hand on a flat, solid surface, resting on the bottom of
the palm, near the wrist, fingers curled naturally, as in hanging
hands at the side. Then, one by one, raise and lower each finger as
high and straight as possible, doing several repetitions on each one
before moving to the next. That's all. I've always been sure that,
among other things, that little exercise helped develop the strength
so that my 3rd finger, in particular, would no longer collapse and
lock at the first knuckle below the nail. I believe it's also an
exercise pianists use. Remember to keep the fingers curled, not flat.
