No need to bemoan the quality of speakers. The human brain is a marvelous
machine which can make sense of all kinds of input. All of us of any age
had our earliest recorded music listening experiences on tiny AM radio
speakers, mono car radios, tiny TV speakers, and the like. I got my
appreciation of Beethoven from a set of 45-rpm highlights disks that came
with a tiny changer record player in the 1950's. The worst of the add-on
speakers that anyone might be using with computers are better than these,
and will at least give people the desire to hear the real thing in concerts
and on bigger systems. And don't forget that many of these downloads go
direct to iPods and the like, providing superb sound quality.
