Subj: [DR-L] Northwest Oboe Seminar Concert!
Date: Sat, 13 Aug 2005 00:59:37 -0400

"The oboe's a horn made of wood,
I'd play you a tune if I could,
but the reeds are a pain
and the fingering's insane.
It's the ill wind that no one blows good."

Attributed to Ogden Nash

Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 20 to hear oboists that play

P.S. And as Danny Kaye sang in the 1947 movie "The Secret Life of Walter
Mitty":
"Pa was forced to be a hobo
Because he played the oboe
And the oboe it is clearly understood
Is an ill wind that no one blows good."
(I believe the lyrics were written by his wife, Sylvia Fine. The song title
is "Anatole of Paris")
