Thanks for your prompt response.
I do indeed use the mandrel when I scrape, but the problem only comes
about just after I've tied the reed on and before i've done any work on
it. I would take the reed off of the mandrel and test the seal before
I put it back onto the mandrel and begin to scrape. Once that happens,
I usually have no problem getting the reed onto and off of the mandrel.
Does this perhaps mean I need to get a new mandrel? I've found the
Loree to always be reliable, but I received it second-hand (third?
fourth?) about eight years ago.
