Subj: [DR-L] Mandrel problems
Date: Tue, 21 Jun 2005 13:12:26 -0400

Hello everyone,

I have recently been having problems with my reeds getting stuck onto
my mandrel after tying. I have tried a number of methods to force the
reed off of the mandrel, resulting in a lot of wrecked staples and a
lot of wasted blanks, not to mention loads of frustration. I hesitate
to use oil or some other lubricant to prevent it happening, since I
don't want to blow nasty oils into my bore and keys. Some have
suggested rubbing pencil graphite onto my mandrel, making it smoother,
but this hasn't seemed to work for me: I can't get the graphite to
stick.

I am using Loree 47mm brass staples with a Loree mandrel. Does anyone
have any suggestions?

Regards,
Joel Verkaik
