Hi -
Does anyone have any experience performing works with a pre-recorded,
synthesized accompaniment and know what form the music files usually are (when
recorded on CD)?
I've pretty much finished recording the accompaniment tracks for a piece and
am ready to mix them down to a CD. The idea is to sell sheet music as an
oboe/piano arrangement, but to have the synthesized tracks available as an
alternate way to perform the work.
Actually, it was originally written for oboe & synth (an electronic ensemble
mostly based on harp, vibraphones, "katuk," gongs--conceived and executed much
like a gamelon ensemble). The oboe/piano arrangement works pretty well, too,
though.
I'm asking because it seems not every CD player plays every musical file
type. I'm most interested in it being something that will play in most sound
systems at small- to medium-sized venues. It's not meant to stand alone as
something for walkman/IPod type play, so that is less of a concern. Have MP3's become
universally playable?
Many thanks in advance,
Phil Freihofner
