Doublereed Archive - Posting 000026.txt from 2005/05
From: James Jeter <jyjeter@-----.com> Subj: [DR-L] Heckel Opportunity Date: Tue, 10 May 2005 15:03:03 -0400
I just received a note from Dick Blair, former oboe instructor at the
University of Texas at Austin. His friend, George Schwartz, who was
principal bassoonist for the San Antonio Symphony for 36 years, is
selling his Heckel, Serial # 5544. I don't know the price, but if
anyone's interested, you could call George at: 830-899-4379 (Canyon
Lake, TX).
Some stats:
Refinished with 3 coats of hand rubbed varnish.
All original keys have been re-plated.
The tenon on the long joint (bass) has been reinforced.
Added high "D" key
Added 3rd finger "C" key
All 5 finger holes are lined with hard rubber.
Three #2 bocals - Heckel, Fox & Schreiber.
I don't get any "commission" for posting this, just wanted to help out a
friend of an old friend!
Cheers, Jim
