This quote reminds me of what the composer, Vincent Persichetti, told me
years ago at Juilliard. At one point, he visited Stravinsky in his New
York apartment. He was led into Igor's living room and noticed all sorts
of music on the piano and around the piano - mainly Bach & Mozart works,
all marked up in RED crayon. When he asked Stravinsky about all the
markings, Igor replied, "These are the truly great composers, I only
COPY!" (But what he did with that copying skill.....!!)
