This is one of my favorite quotes but it refers to Ormandy. Kent
In 1982, the NEW YORKER MAGAZINE published several interviews with various
members of the Philadelphia orchestra. The great oboist, Marcel Tabuteau
was one of the musicians interviewed. The reporter asked Mr. Tabuteau about
the different conductors that he had played for during his fifty year
career.
Tabuteau said, I have played for many famous conductor during my life. The
better the conductor, the more the one hates him! Of all the many conductors
that I have played for, I liked Ormandy the best."

Does anybody remember the Tabuteau's remarks about Stokowski? (apparently
given to a reporter upon being asked about whether or not he liked the
maestro)
