That's virtuous thinking. Not enough people are concerned about
intellectual property issues. =

However, in this instance, it is probably all right. Marcello has been de=
ad
for a long time. His music is now in the public domain, and can be
downloaded, copied, performed, etc. with no violation of his intellectual=

property rights. =

(If we were discussing someone alive, such as Corigliano, or someone
relatively recently deceased, such as Stravinsky, it would be a different=

story.) =

Here is where it can get murky. If someone were to release an edition of =
a
piece of his music, that edition could be protected by copyright--not the=

music itself, but the editing, typesetting, liner notes, etc. =

So, as long as the edition isn't protected by copyright, you and others
should be fine. =

(I am not an intellectual property attorney, so don't take this as legal
advice. However, my father is, so I know a bit about this stuff.) =

Regarding downloading them, this somehow seems like it must
be some sort of violation of copyright law. Although, we have
established in the past that I am far from an expert in that area.

Not judging, just wondering ---
