I had a shaper made based on my hand made shapes. I also had a gouger and
profiler made.

Subject: [DR-L] Contraforte shape
Arthur,
What are you using for the shape of the contraforte reed? Hank said he
hadn't found anything large enough in available contrabassoon shapes, so
he was experimenting by hand and trying to keep notes.

Thanks for the good words. Yes, like every other double reed
instrument, the reed is a MAJOR part of the set-up and as this is a new
instrument, no-one knew the ideal type of reed. I am playing "Firebird"
this week on it, and the reed is working well. More research is
necessary to get to the ideal.
