From: BssnRX@-----.com Subj: [DR-L] Keeping bassoons and oboes humidified Date: Thu, 13 Jan 2005 14:00:08 -0500
As all of my customers know, I'm big on keeping the humidity level of
bassoons as constant as possible. I have tried all sorts of ideas, from Damp-its in
the bassoon, sponges in the case, home made contraptions made from film
canisters with holes drilled in them and stuffed with sponges. A little over a year
ago I purchased a Drymistat humidifier for my cigar humidor and then thought of
trying one for my bassoon. Worked great.

I was talking to the maker of Drymistats about using them for other
instruments and he said he is interested but would need feedback from people about how
to modify them in order to meet the needs of the various instruments. I
offered to post this and take any ideas that people have and forward them to him.
(He's going to modify his site to accept suggestions but wasn't sure when it
would be done)
So, anybody interested, fell free to send me an email at bssnrx@-----.
This also includes any string players that you know .
