Actually, my playing got better the farther along into the pregnancy I
got! Sound was richer, tongue lighter and more facile, and fingers
were flying. Then about a week before the baby came, everything changed
for the worse! I sounded like I was wheezing into the oboe, my tongue
felt like a huge wad of cotton, and my fingers clutched the oboe. I
cried. . . .

I saw the obgyn two days later and was told that the baby had dropped. .
. I would deliver very soon.

SOOOO what had happened is that I had carried the baby very high and HE
was providing me with the best breath support I had ever known! When
the baby dropped, so did that support. Did I ever learn a lesson
about the importance of breathing right!!!

2 cents.,
