To some extent this might be true Jim, but Ghandi said it is important
to do what you
need to do even if it is inevitably insignificant. Goethe seems to be
expressing
his exasperation at long windedness. Of course, since I don't know the
context of the Goethe quote I might be wrong.

Be interesting to have the entire passages of both quotes.
