If you can find a "brush" (wide, flat, usually like a velvet) that is
designed for cleaning the grooves when dry, it will also work well wet (as
aforementioned) to dig some of the junk from the bottom of the grooves where
a cloth won't reach. And the mineral content of the water you use may leave
scratchy residue after all the water evaporates from the bottom of the
grooves (which may take a LONG time, by the way).
