For the record:
Jonathan Dlouhy is, in my opinion, one of the finest oboists in the USA
today. He has been principal oboe with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for
many years. I won't go into his teachers, leaving that for another to do.
He does play Loree oboes, as I do. Yes, we are opinionated, but with great
experience to back up our opinion.
This oboe is designed for the American market. It fills the needs imposed by
the concert halls, conductors, audiences, and competition (read auditions.)
I would not agree that there is any oboe that can claim to be the BEST in
the world. But, for us, the Loree does fill the bill.
There are several other oboe makers in the USA who do make excellent
instruments for our needs, but the Loree is still the top choice for
American principal oboists.
