My slightly less than humble opinion would have to be that the best oboes
have yet to be made. Although I have owned great Lorees. All tend to have some
problems.

As noted, Lorees tend to have flatter low registers, and terrible forked
"f"s. Laubins tend to be terribly inflexible pitch-wise. Yamahas don't have the
range of tone that Lorees usually have (although the response is rather good
most of the time, the forked "f"s do sound just like any note on the rest of the
instrument!), and they crack more often.

I really wish that somebody would make an oboe that combined the best aspects
of all oboes on the market.

Just my opinion.
