I received this email today from Steve Secan, and thought I should pass it
along.

Jim was in Ohio for a family reunion. Returning to Chicago he stopped in
Columbus to see several friends here. I was expecting to hear from him Monday or
Tuesday of last week.

On Wednesday I received a phone call from another friend here calling me over
to Riverside Hospital. At the time Jim was still on life support systems,
having had severe heart arrhythmia on Sunday night. He was taken off the
ventilator on Thursday afternoon, and died peacefully a short time later. Several
close friends were present, including his life partner Rob Butler. Obviously this
is quite a loss for all of us who were Jim's friends.

I know there are many concerned friends from the IDRS list who will want to
know what has happened. Please pass the word that his obit was in the Chicago
paper this weekend (or Monday), and in the Columbus Dispatch on Monday. Several
memorial services are yet to be scheduled in Chicago and Findlay, there has
been recent discussion about something in Findlay on the 29th of this month.
