The First "Star Trek" TV Series (with Captain
Kirk and Spock) aired for only 3 years and was
supposed to be set in the Late 23rd Century. The
big problem was that the first series was in the Late
1960's and had NO Budget for Special Effects,
which was not yet born as a computer-based
science then. However during the 1970's and
1980's, complex Special Effects became common
and easier to do and afford.
The art of making light-weight, foam-rubber or
plastic, Monster Masks made huge progress, mainly
from the "Planet of the Apes" 5 movies and 2 TV
series. At first, a "whole-head" Ape Mask took up to
FIVE hours to put on, and up to 3 hours to carefully
remove from each actor! But in the last 10 years
"whole-head" masks now take only 1 1/2 to 3
hours, to put on, with the lesser time being for the
repeat actors, who are either dozing, or learning
their lines, while laying back in a chair.
Movies like "Jurassic Park" suddenly made
"CGI's" or "Computer Generated Images" come
into being, making realistic-looking monsters and
space aliens seem surprisingly real! (These CGI's
of people or monsters, have shadows, interact by
touching and moving live actors and other objects
on the screen, plus close-up scenes show every
hair, feather or reptilian skin scale, in perfect focus!
It's really quite remarkable!) Nowadays that kind of
detail by CGI's, that was once so difficult, that it
took a YEAR of work for the first "Jurassic Park"
Movie, has since become SO easy to do, that many
TV Shows do comparable quality work in
programs aired WEEKLY!
The "Star Trek: The Next Generation" Series
deliberately takes place 100 years after the First
"Star Trek" Series in the story line, in the Late 24th
Century, when things are even more high-tech! It
had 2 other spin-off series ("Star Trek: Deep
Space Nine" and "Star Trek; Voyager") start a few
years after it was established, and all 3 of these
newer series ran a full 7 years, (which is the
normal length of time for a TV series). Their
writing, actors, make-up and special effects were
vastly better than the First "Star Trek" Series!
Now they have the new "Star Trek: Enterprise"
Series, which is set in the Late 22nd Century, 100
years BEFORE Captain Kirk, but 200 years after
us, now. Again the writing, actors, special effects,
etc., are FAR Better Quality than the First Series!
The worst villains in these 4 newer series are the
"Borg", the race of evil, semi-robotic people, who
take over whole worlds at a time, turning their
captives into new Borg Drones.

However the Borg always make a point to
analyze their potential prey first, to see if they are
"worthy" of being "assimilated". For example,
when they scan planets where the beings are still
in a "Cave Man" era, and/or or the beings are not
strong enough medically, or advanced enough
mentally, to make a worthy contribution to the
"Borg Collective", they don't get assimilated.
Therefore they would never attack and "assimilate"
anyone, whose strongest traits are being a "warm
and cuddly bear" like Winnie the Pooh. They'd
either ignore him as being unable to contribute
anything worthwhile to the "Hive Mind", or
destroy him. (However the Borg might feel
differently about Tacky, Fuzz-Faced "Redneck"
Bears.)
I have video taped ALL 5 of the Star Trek TV
Series and the 10 Movies. When I put in 6-hour
video cassettes and "overdose" on watching endless
hours of Star Trek, I call it "committing Startrekatitis"!
My roommate is a retired trucker, who is a fan of
"WWE" ("World Wrestling Entertainment") and
insists that HE is watching the more "Reality-Based
TV". . . . But of course, *I* know better!

So WHO ELSE is going to teach you people
about Mature, Intellectual Reality-Based TV, if *I*
don't!!???? You're never going to get admitted into
the Elite Crowd, here in our local "Happy Farm"
with that attitude! We may have to admit Paranoids,
but not just ANY Paranoids! This is Tucson Arizona
where "Trailer Parks" of TACKY People ARE the
"High Society"!!! We have to make sure that the
Paranoids from other parts of the world, meet our
High Standards before they can apply for a "rubber
room" in our facility! If you don't learn all these
things about "Reality Based TV", how do you know
if you're living in an Immature World of Fantasy
and Delusions???? (Oysch! Some people just don't
have couth!)

(Fact: In Medicine a "Fugue" is a type a short-
circuited brain seizure, brought on by stress. In
Music a "Fugue" is a complicated contrapuntal
work, that interlocks melodies, according to
complicated rules.)
"If you work too long on writing a Musical
Fugue, you can end up having a Medical
Fugue!" - Bear Woodson, (1990)
