Hi Everyone,

Just yesterday I received a new violet wood Loree and I was told by my distributor that I need to oil the bore three times a week for the rest of its "playing life" because of the dry weather here in Alaska. To me, it sounds a bit excessive. When I was using my other oboe (made from Grenadilla) I only oiled the bore once a month and it never cracked and still plays good to this day. Is voilet wood really that much more susceptible to cracking than Grenadilla? Is it possible to oil the bore too much?

Thanks for your help,
Emily
