Barbara,

Don and I had a long history in orchestra performance, mostly with the New
Jersey Symphony Orchestra. I had occasion about three years (?) ago to call
him in Albuquerque and he managed to pick up the phone to answer me.

He must have just had a major stroke, and was "waiting for them to come and
take [him] away." He was almost incoherent, so the conversation ended there.
I never heard about him again. I believe that Don was about 73 years old.

I only knew him as an adult. He was alone.
