Dear List,

I tried to send this as an attachment yesterday but it failed to go.
This sad news may be of particular interest to graduates of the NC
School of the Arts. Steve bravely fought the ravishes of a weird
cancer/heart problem for several years.

KING - Mr. Steven Lanier Jones, 39, died Saturday, July 3, 2004. He was
born Oct. 7, 1964, in Newport News, Va. to Ruben Lanier and Judith Ann
Queensen Jones. He was a musician and instrument repairman. Steven was a
member of First Assembly Church of God in Winston-Salem, where he played
oboe and saxophone in the church orchestra. He had also played with the
Winston-Salem Symphony for over 20 years. He was a graduate of the N.C.
School of the Arts, where he received his master's degree in oboe
performance. He was an adjunct professor at Wake Forest University.
Surviving are his wife, JoAnne Fennell Jones of the home; his mother,
Judith Queensen Jones of Newport News; a sister, Jill Ann Jones of
Greeneville, Tenn.; a brother, Daniel Scott (Heather) Jones of Lanexa,
Va.; eight nephews; and two nieces. A memorial service will be held at
11 a.m. today, July 5, at First Assembly Church of God with Pastor Tim
Loar and Pastor John Bost officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may
be made to the Royal Family Kids Camp Program, c/o First Assembly Church
of God, 3730 University Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
