Actually I did experience what you explained. But I like to think that what
I'm producing is NOT throat vibrato. Being that for a couple of reasons; 1,
I feel it coming from my chest. I think I can feel the source being from a
specific spot somewhere at the very bottom of my throat/upper chest. 2, I
can turn it on and off as i please. very few times where it's just there by
itself.

My main concern about this whole issue was if I should be inducing it or
letting it come by itself. I thought that I should learn how to produce it
by doing those "speed bumps", learn how to increase the bumps per second
then refine it and eventually with the years of playing the oboe it will be
better and better. However since I have succeeded in producing it, I found
myself having to induce it by wiggling something in my chest. which is what
you said if i'm not mistaken.

But my observation was that at some notes that i play alot the vibrato is
almost perfect(4 bumps per second). I can even slow it down or do it in
multi speeds. But never made it to the perfect 5 bumps per second!

The funny thing about it is that I am able to produce a nice vibrato when I
sing!! Guess it's all those breathing exercises finaly paying off!!

At the end I'd like to say that this issue is just another mysterious-hard
to explain aspect in oboe planet. My oboe teacher could not explain it when
i asked her about it. I myself re wrote this email a couple of times trying
so hard to make my thoughts as clear as possible regarding the subject yet I
still think i might have used some wrong words. The oboe is an intense
instrument. Everything from its voice to its reeds making is thought
provoking and mystical I think.
