Right, absolutely!
I always bind my reeds to the cork because I try my best to
make them look aesthetic too. In fact, I like the staples that
have collars to which to bind - Chudnow/Lor=E9e etc. Sorry,
not talking about oboe reeds - no collars but I still used the
thread up (don't have an oboe).
This is partly because when I first started in GB there was
only red. I felt frustrated about that, so when I was able to
diversify as other hues fell upon an undernourished thread
market, I used my imagination and made colour statements.
